PCObs Version 3.0
PCObs is a tool to help you submit your variable star observations to the
AAVSO. It is point-and-click software and runs on Windows 98 and XP. We have reports
that it also runs on Windows ME and 2000 and we expect it should run on Vista, though
we have not formally tested it on any of those platforms.
As of version 3.0, PCObs can only be used for submitting visual observations.
Photometric observers need to use the WebObs feature in BlueGold.
Some advantages to using PCObs:
- Don't worry anymore about formats!
- Automatically converts your local time to UT JD.
- Keeps a record of all your observations in a simple text file.
- Error checking ensures your data is submitted properly.
How To Use It
In depth help menus are available in PCObs, but we feel you will find
it easy to understand and will be able to start using it immediately. Basically it works like this:
- You enter observations offline
- They are saved by the program to a text file
- When you are ready, you e-mail that file to the AAVSO or upload it through BlueGold/WebObs (preferred).
You can do this any time you want (every day, once a month, etc.).
